Reacting to the ‘blank page’ condition characteristic of newly finished apartment buildings, the project’s concept is based on two main elements: multi-function panels whose purpose is that of bringing cohesion to living spaces by hiding the doors that give access to bedrooms and restroom.
The first panel, made with smooth boards of natural wood, extends throughout the entire apartment, and provides space for the TV. The second one, a slatted wooden panel, covers the grill volume and contains some cabinets designed to make the most of the little space available. It assumes the function of a cupboard next to the kitchen, and that of a cloakroom next to the apartment’s entrance.
The two wooden panels are complemented by the presence of blocks built from Carrara marble, which set the limits of different social areas. In the living room, a block contains the fireplace, while next to the kitchen another block corresponds to the bar.
